Dennis Wells
Facility Ops Specialist Dennis  J. Wells

Facility Operations Specialist Denis Jasper Wells passed away on December 17, 2020.  The circumstances of his passing were reviewed by an executive panel and the CBP Commissioner who agreed that this death occurred in the line of duty.  Mr. Wells will be remembered for his diligent service to the nation and for his bravery in the face of danger.

Mr. Wells  served as a facility operations specialist in Tucson, Arizona.  He started his CBP career on April 1, 2018 and served as the contracting officer’s representative on numerous projects throughout the Tucson Sector Border Patrol area of responsibility. Mr. Wells was especially helpful and effective in assisting with Air and Marine Operations facilities projects located on Davis Monthan Air Force Base and Fort Huachuca in Arizona.

Mr. Wells was born in Hackensack, New Jersey and grew up in Brooklyn, New York.  After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served honorably for more than 25 years, retiring as a master sergeant.  Mr. Wells served an additional 15 years in civil service and was a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

According to friends and colleagues, he had the gift of gab and a way with words.  Every conversation was a lesson, and he loved being around people, encouraging dialogue with anyone.  Mr. Wells knew how to make every encounter meaningful and was a friend to everyone and a stranger to none.  He is survived by his wife, their four children and a grandson.
