CBP and Domestic General Aviation

Who are we?

AMO safeguards our Nation by anticipating and confronting security threats through our aviation and maritime law enforcement expertise, innovative capabilities, and partnerships at the border and beyond.

What do we do?

AMO carries out an important Homeland Security mission with our partner agencies, to secure our national airspace. This critical role requires our agents to interact with members of the General Aviation (GA) community.

Our commitment to our GA partners

AMO is committed to working with the GA community to exercise this responsibility while safeguarding the civil liberties of the flying public. To learn more about our legal authorities and what to expect during a pilot certificate inspection, read our brochure: CBP and Domestic General Aviation.

As part of our commitment to address citizens’ concerns, AMO recently completed a top-down review of our domestic general aviation law enforcement operations.  The review enabled AMO to examine policies and practices as they relate to our interaction with the GA community, to include pilot certificate inspections.  During the course of the review, we identified opportunities for improvement and will continue to monitor our efforts and make changes when appropriate.  To learn more about our top-down review, read our report: Domestic General Aviation Law Enforcement Operations: A Top-Down Review.
