CBPO Ching Kok "CK" Yan

CBP Officer Ching Kok “CK” Yan passed away at age 54 from Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), which he contracted in the line of duty.  He started his CBP career in April 2007 and worked in the International Mail Facility at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, serving in CBP for 13 years. Prior to CBP, Mr. Yan served with TSA as a Transportation Security Screener, giving a total of 17 years in federal service.  

CBPO Yan’s last tour of duty was on April 22, 2020.  On April 26, he began feeling symptoms of a fever and chills and was placed on sick leave.  On May 3, 2020, CBPO Yan tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  CBPO Yan remained in the hospital as his health deteriorated over the next two weeks and he passed away on May 16, 2020.  He is survived by his wife and four children: ages 17, 12, 11, and 9.
