MISSION, Texas – On Friday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the McAllen station disrupted a single narcotics smuggling attempt and seized over $1M worth of marijuana.
Agents conducting operations near Mission, Texas, observed multiple subjects loading a vehicle with bundles of marijuana near the Rio Grande. The Dodge pickup then departed the river area at a high rate of speed. Responding agents observed the driver return to the river, abandon the vehicle and swim back to Mexico. Inside the vehicle, agents discovered over 1,300 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $1,057,600.00.
Agents seized the vehicle and turned the narcotics over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
