Applying for Retirement
When you decide you're ready to apply for retirement, please make sure you complete the following steps to submit a successful retirement package:
Once you have completed each checklist and you have all the proper documentation, please mail your retirement package to CBP's Retirement and Benefits Services Branch:

Employees planning to retire are encouraged to submit their completed retirement application to the Office of Human Resources Management, Retirement and Benefits Advisory Services (RABAS) Branch, 90 days before their retirement date.
Once your retirement application is received, it will be assigned to a Human Resources Specialist for review and servicing. If there are any questions relating to your application, or if additional information is needed, you will be contacted before your retirement application is processed.
In addition, if you are retiring at the end of the year, and you plan to make a Federal Employees Health Benefit (FEHB) election during the current FEHB Open Season, you will need to submit the Federal Employees Health Benefit Election Form, SF-2809, along with your retirement application. You should not use Employee Personal Page (EPP) to make your open season change.
