LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents from the Zapata Station rescued a mother and her two young daughters after they became exhausted walking through the brush.

Border Patrol agents rescue a mother and her two young daughters in the brush near Falcon lake
Border Patrol agents rescued an
exhausted mother and her two children
within a group of eight illegal aliens
encountered near Falcon Lake.

The rescue happened on August 30, when agents responded to a suspected illegal entry near Falcon Lake.  When agents arrived, they found footprints of several individuals and began tracking the subjects.

After following the footprints for approximately two miles, agents encountered a group of eight suspected illegal aliens.  An immigration inspection determined all the subjects were Mexican nationals who had entered the United States illegally.

As the subjects were being escorted out of the brush, one of the agents noticed one of the female subjects and her young daughters struggling to keep up.  The woman told the agent she was extremely fatigued and could no longer carry the three-year-old girl.  The agent then carried the sleeping girl a half-mile to a waiting Border Patrol vehicle.  All subjects were transported to the Zapata Border Patrol Station.  Due to the high temperatures at the time the individuals were encountered, they were all medically evaluated by Zapata Border Patrol agents.

All of the subjects, including the woman and her two young daughters, were found to be in good health and not suffering any ill effects from the heat.

For Fiscal Year 2018 to date, Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents have rescued over 310 individuals suffering from heat exposure.  During this same time, agents have found over 30 individuals who perished as a result of exposure to extreme temperatures.
