LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol is advising the traveling public of concrete repairs at the Interstate 35 checkpoint over the next 45 days which may cause temporary lane closures and to plan ahead when making trips.

“We wanted to advise the traveling public and the international trade community that the normal wear and tear of traffic at the Interstate 35 checkpoint has necessitated repairs to the concrete in the area over the next month and a half,” said Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Jose Martinez, Laredo Sector Border Patrol. “There may be temporary lane closures and rerouting of traffic through the checkpoint area, and we highly encourage the traveling public to pay attention to messages regarding lane closures on electronic billboards and to build extra time into their travel plans accordingly.”

The concrete repairs are slated to begin on Oct. 1 and are expected to be completed on Nov. 15. During the construction, there may be temporary lane closures and traffic will be routed through alternate lanes as needed. A digital sign placed south of the checkpoint will advise the traveling public of such temporary closures.  Motorists can also monitor possible delays due to the improvements by using the “Wait Time” feature on the Laredo Sector Border Patrol app.
