CALEXICO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station apprehended a previously deported convicted sex offender near the eastern city limits of Calexico on Thursday.

The incident occurred approximately 3.5 miles east of the Calexico West Port of Entry, at around 8 p.m.  Agents encountered a 31-year-old man, citizen of Mexico, when he attempted to illegally enter the United States.

Through interview and further inspection, Border Patrol agents identified the man as Hugo Manuel Dorardo-Rodriguez, a convicted sex offender, guilty of sexual assault of a minor under the age of sixteen.  Dorardo was deported on Apr. 8, 2015.

The convicted sex offender is being held at the Imperial County Jail and will be prosecuted for re-entry after deportation.
