Officers referred a 26-year-old Arizona woman for a further inspection of her Chrysler sedan Monday evening, following an alert by a CBP narcotics detection canine to a scent it was trained to detect. When officers searched the vehicle, they found more than 250 packages of marijuana littered throughout the vehicle. The drugs weighed nearly 315 pounds and have an estimated value of more than $157,000.

Officers on Tuesday morning referred a 45-year-old Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, man for an additional inspection of his Ford SUV after a canine alert to the presence of a scent it was trained to detect. The subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of more than 69 pounds of marijuana, worth nearly $35,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicles. Both subjects were arrested for narcotics smuggling. They were then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
