Convicted Aggravated Felon Arrested by El Centro Sector Border Patrol

CALEXICO, Calif.El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents from the Calexico Station arrested a convicted aggravated felon Friday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:18 a.m., when agents arrested a man who illegally crossed into the United States, about 3.5-miles east of the Calexico West Port of Entry. Agents transported the man to the El Centro station for further processing. 

Border Patrol agents used the man’s fingerprints to positively identify him.  A search of law enforcement databases revealed that the man is Rutilo Velasquez-Lupercio, an aggravated felon. 

Velasquez was convicted for involuntary manslaughter in 1996 and was sentenced to a four-year prison sentence.  Velasquez was also convicted for possession of a controlled substance in 2001 and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Velasquez, a 53-year-old Mexican national, is being held in federal custody pending prosecution for Re-Entry after Removal.
