CBP Arrests Wanted Fugitive on Felony Fraud Warrant

Release Date

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the Heart Island Port of Entry arrested a 58-year-old Canadian citizen from Richmond Hill, Ontario who was wanted for a felony in Nevada.

On June 22, CBP officers encountered a Canadian citizen, at the Heart Island Port of Entry as he attempted to enter the U.S. as a passenger on a commercial tour boat. During primary inspection, CBP officers revealed that the Canadian citizen was a possible match to an outstanding arrest warrant and as a result he was subsequently escorted to secondary for further inspection. A biometric verification confirmed his identity and the arrest warrant was confirmed from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office relating to felony-fraud due to insufficient funds.

It was further revealed that the Canadian citizen was wanted on a felony fraud insufficient funds check stemming from an incident where he allegedly passed a $32,150 insufficient fund check in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2007.

“This person wanted on an outstanding warrant was arrested at the Heart Island Port after our officers conducted database checks upon his arrival from Canada by tour boat,” said Tim Walker, Area Port Director of the Alexandria Bay Port of Entry.  “Our ability to check everyone’s identity at border crossings enables CBP to detect people who have arrest warrants pending or other issues.”
