TUCSON, Ariz. – A Border Patrol agent from Ajo Station, along with his canine partner, helped Arizona’s Department of Public Safety apprehend two suspects who abandoned a vehicle on foot following a pursuit near Gila Bend early today.

At approximately 7:40 a.m., DPS troopers initiated a vehicle stop that turned into a pursuit. The fleeing vehicle then went off-road at mile marker 138 on State Route 85 and two subjects abandoned the vehicle on foot. A Border Patrol agent and his canine partner assisted in the search and apprehended one of the subjects; DPS apprehended the other.

A follow-on search of the vehicle turned up an undisclosed amount of marijuana. DPS took custody of the vehicle, subjects and contraband.
