YUMA, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Wellton Station apprehended 11 men early Wednesday for entering the United States illegally; one of whom was previously deported on three separate occasions and convicted multiple times for sexual and aggravated assault.

Border Patrol agents patrolling near Tacna, Arizona, encountered the group Wednesday morning and transported them to the Wellton Station for processing. While processing 26-year-old Jose Luis Zuniga-Doblado, a Honduran citizen, agents learned of his previous convictions for sexual assault and aggravated assault.

Zuniga will remain in federal custody for criminal immigration violations while waiting for a final disposition.

All subjects arrested by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks during processing, per Yuma Sector guidelines.
