Agents Arrest Previously Deported Rapist

TUCSON, Ariz. – Ajo Station Border Patrol agents arrested a previously deported Mexican national convicted of aggravated rape, after he entered the U.S. illegally Monday evening near Lukeville.

During post arrest processing, agents conducting a biometric records check discovered, 31-year-old, Juan Aranda-Ramirez was convicted of aggravated rape in Tennessee in 2009. Aranda was sentenced to two years in prison for his crime before being removed from the country.

Aranda will remain in federal custody to face felony immigration prosecution. 

All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
