TUCSON, Ariz. – Nogales Station Border Patrol agents apprehended a male Mexican national Monday morning after he re-entered the U.S. illegally east of Nogales.
Agents arrested 40-year-old Francisco Alarcon-Flores and transported him to the Nogales Station for processing. During a subsequent fingerprint and criminal records check, agents discovered Alarcon was convicted in 2003 in Yankton, South Dakota, on a statutory rape charge. He was sentenced to five years in prison. Alarcon now faces criminal prosecution for re-entering the U.S. as a felon.
All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal immigrants with criminal histories are positively identified.
