Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact for the Proposed Fort Hancock Road Upgrade and Canal Crossing Project, Hudspeth County, Texas

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) which evaluates potential environmental impacts from the proposed upgrade of three roads and associated construction of four canal crossings in Fort Hancock, Hudspeth County, Texas.  The project consists of the upgrade of three existing roads from narrow dirt track roads to 20 to 30-foot wide roads and the construction of four new canal crossings with the Fort Hancock Border Patrol Station Area of Responsibility (i.e., Proposed Action).  The purpose of the Proposed Action is to improve mobility and accessibility for U.S. Border Patrol Agents responding to illegal cross-border traffic.

CBP invites comments on the Draft EA during the 30-day comment period beginning on July 31, 2019.  You may submit comments to Mr. Joseph Zidron using only one of the following methods:

  1. By U.S. mail:  Joseph Zidron, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, 24000 Avila Road, Suite 5020, Laguna Niguel, CA 92677; or
  2. By email:  joseph.zidron@cbp.dhs.gov

When submitting comments, please include your name and address, and identify your comments as for the Fort Hancock Road and Crossing project.  To ensure consideration, comments must be received by August 30, 2019.  Once the final environmental and decision documents are complete they will also be posted on this site.
