Initial statement regarding fatality north of Interstate 35 U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint

Attributable to a CBP official:

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 a vehicle failed to stop for secondary inspection at the Interstate 35 U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint. The driver bailed out of the vehicle, ran across the median and was struck by a southbound vehicle and is deceased. Traffic in both directions is temporarily halted. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
