FALFURRIAS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector rescued a man and woman from El Salvador who were lost in the brush Monday.

The rescue occurred after the undocumented immigrants were abandoned by a human smuggler and called 911. A dispatcher from the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office provided GPS coordinates that led responding agents from the Falfurrias Station to the immigrants’ location. The woman was transported to a local hospital for severe dehydration and was hospitalized for treatment.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. To report suspicious activity, call the sector’s toll-free telephone number at 800-863-9382.
