LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Interstate 35 (I-35) checkpoint seized a large amount of narcotics north of Laredo.

During the late afternoon of April 30, agents encountered a silver utility truck at the I-35 checkpoint.  During the immigration inspection of the driver, a Service canine alerted to the vehicle.  The vehicle was referred to secondary inspections where, after a non-intrusive scan, agents discovered 35 bundles of marijuana hidden in several side compartments of the vehicle.

The bundles had a total weight of 862.66 pounds with an approximate value of $690,128.  The case was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for prosecution.
