Smugglers abandon 1,200 pounds of marijuana in the Rio Grande Valley

RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas – On Monday, March 19, Rio Grande City agents disrupted a marijuana smuggling event near La Rosita, Texas.

Agents conducting line-watch operations discovered an abandoned truck loaded with marijuana that smugglers were attempting to conceal at an unfinished structure. Agents found additional bundles of marijuana hidden within the building. A total of 1,164 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $931,200.00, and the vehicle was seized.

The marijuana will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
