OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an undocumented individual with a prior conviction for a sexual offense Sunday night.

Agents apprehended an undocumented individual hours after illegally entering the United States in the mountainous area of the Jacumba Wilderness region. The individual was transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.

Records checks revealed that Juan Jose Mojica-Ceron, a 55-year-old Mexican national, has an extensive criminal and immigration history. Mojica-Ceron was previously convicted in Los Angeles for a lewd act with a child under the age of 14, serving three years in prison for his crime and charges of driving under the influence in which he served 16 months. Mojica-Ceron has also been previously removed back to Mexico.

U.S. Border Patrol agents will process Mojica-Ceron accordingly.

Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested and/or removed 32 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges.
