When the Denver Broncos meet the Seattle Seahawks for Super Bowl XLVIII, fans can be certain that U.S. Customs and Border Protection, along with its federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, will be working to ensure all attending the 2014 Super Bowl are winners.

CBP officers and agents from the Port of New York/Newark and Long Island will be deployed to assist with the security efforts.

“CBP, along with our fellow law enforcement partners, have been involved in the safety planning for this Super Bowl for a little over a year now,” said Robert E. Perez, CBP Director of Field Operations, New York Field Office.  “Our CBP professionals are subject matter experts in their respective fields. These skills we bring ensure Super Bowl XLVIII is a safe environment for all.”

CBP’s Field Operations officers are conducting non-intrusive inspections of vehicles entering the stadium area throughout Super Bowl week, while Office of Air and Marine pilots and agents secure the skies above MetLife Stadium.

In addition CBP Officers and Import Specialists are working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations agents to examine, seize, investigate Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) violations and to protect consumers from counterfeiters looking to profit from phony NFL gear.

“One of CBP’s priorities is IPR enforcement, and we are working very closely with our partners at ICE/HSI to protect the American public and property rights holders from the proliferation of these counterfeit products.” Perez said.

When requested, CBP provides its specialized expertise to support high-profile events like the Super Bowl and the Olympics.
