CBP Officers at the Roma Port of Entry Seize Over $600,000 in Methamphetamine

ROMA, Texas —U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations officers at the Roma Port of Entry seized more than $600,000 in methamphetamine during a single enforcement action.

“We maintain a robust enforcement posture which is vital in keeping our borders secure,” said Port Director Andres Guerra, Roma Port of Entry. “Our officers remain dedicated to the CBP mission of keeping illegal and dangerous substances off the streets of our country.”

The seizure occurred on Saturday, November 14, 2020 when a CBP officer referred a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta occupied by a male U.S. citizen for a secondary inspection.  With the utilization of a canine and a non-intrusive imaging system, CBP officers discovered 24.72 pounds of alleged methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle.

CBP officers seized the narcotics, which have an estimated street value of $618,000 and arrested the driver.

The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
