LEWISTON, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Lewiston Bridge Cargo Facility seized approximately 70 pounds of marijuana that was discovered within a mixed commercial shipment.

Today, CBP officers selected a commercial shipment for further examination. The shipment contained multiple items to include a large crate. During a Non-Intrusive Inspection scan of the commercial truck, an anomaly was noticed that concerned officers.

Subsequently, CBP officers initiated a physical exam and after removing boards from the crate discovered un-manifested boxes. Further examination revealed sealed packages which tested positive for the properties of marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana seized was approximately 70 pounds and had an estimated street value of $225,000.

“Even during these unprecedented times, our officers continue to step up and show their dedication to protecting our communities,” said Port Director Jennifer De La O.  “From our cargo environment to our passenger environment, our officers are committed to intercepting these illicit drugs from being smuggled in.”
