CBP Officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry Apprehend a Man Wanted on Rape Charge

EAGLE PASS, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry apprehended a man wanted on outstanding felony warrants for rape in Madison, Tenn.

“Our frontline officers continue to steadfastly uphold our border security mission. The processing and identity verification of this man with outstanding felony warrants for rape helps keep our community safe,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

The apprehension occurred on Wednesday, July 15 at the Eagle Pass International Railroad Bridge.  CBP officers conducting inspections of the rail cars when they apprehended a 33-year-old male Mexican citizen attempting to enter the United States by eluding inspection hiding in a rail car. CBP officers conducted a fingerprint check and utilizing national law enforcement databases confirmed his identity as 33-year-old Adelaido Lopez Cruz, wanted by the Madison, Tenn. Police Department on an outstanding felony warrant for rape. Lopez Cruz was paroled into the U.S. and turned over to Maverick County Sheriff’s Office to pending extradition proceedings and warrant adjudication.

Charges and allegations contained in criminal complaints are merely accusations.  Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
