TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona and Sonora residents play a critical role in keeping our nation safe and now have a new mechanism to say something, if they see something®.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Tucson Office of Field Operations has a new hotline allowing the traveling public to report criminal or smuggling activity they witness in the communities within the Arizona and Mexico border.

“Many people may witness criminal activity or something that doesn’t seem quite right,” said Guadalupe Ramirez Jr., CBP Director of Field Operations, Tucson. “This hotline provides a safe and anonymous way for them to report suspicious activities without fear.”

Border security crimes can be reported by calling 1-866-739-9118, including narcotic and contraband smuggling, human trafficking, currency smuggling, terrorism, and immigration, trade, and agriculture violations.  DFO Ramirez maintains that callers will not have to provide their names, nor will their calls be traced.

“In order for us to keep our homeland safe, we need the public’s assistance to alert us of possible illicit activities,” Mr. Ramirez said. “This hotline gives us an opportunity to help keep our communities safe by empowering one another.”

CBP Office of Field Operation in Tucson has oversight of eight port locations: San Luis, Lukeville, Sasabe, Douglas, Naco, Nogales, Tucson, and Phoenix.

CBP's officers at ports of entry screen all people, vehicles and goods entering the U.S. while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel. Their mission involves narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration and trade laws, and protecting the nation's food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases.
