JACUMBA, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the El Centro Sector located a man who was lost and left behind by a smuggler in the mountains Friday morning.

At approximately 7:05 a.m., the El Centro Station received a call from a 9-1-1 dispatcher about a distress call from a man who said he was lost and in need of assistance.  The dispatcher provided Border Patrol agents with the man’s name and phone number. Agents were able to communicate with the man and obtained Global Positioning System coordinates for his location.

At 8:08 a.m., agents located the man in the Davies Valley area and determined he was indeed the previous caller who stated he was lost.  Agents assessed the man and provided him with water. The man stated he was doing well, but was very tired.

The man was determined to be an illegal alien from Mexico and was transported to the El Centro Sector rally point to be expelled back to his country of origin.
