FALFURRIAS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered eight illegal aliens in a failed smuggling attempt at the Falfurrias checkpoint.

Yesterday, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias Checkpoint referred a Ford F250 pick-up truck to the secondary inspection area after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted. Through the investigation, agents discovered eight illegal aliens concealed. During processing, agents identified one of the illegal aliens as a 17 year-old unaccompanied child and one of the adults as an MS-13 gang member.

Agents arrested the United States citizen driver and referred the case for prosecution.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”
