Border Patrol Agents Arrest Convicted Sex Offender

DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station arrested a convicted sex offender, May 29.

Agents arrested Marcos Evangelisto Escobar, 39, a Honduran national, shortly after he illegally entered the United States with a group of eight others. During processing, agents discovered that Escobar was convicted of indecency with a child sexual contact in Dallas, in 2017, and sentenced to three years in prison. He was deported in 2019.

As a convicted felon, he faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry after Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

During fiscal year 2022, Oct. 1, 2021, through April 30, 2022, Del Rio Sector agents have encountered more than 1,269 criminal migrants.
