Washington, DC – U.S. Border Patrol has encountered 23 convicted sex offenders in just the month of May, preventing these potentially dangerous individuals from reaching U.S. communities. “Transnational criminal networks don’t do background checks on the people they help smuggle into the country,” said Chief Rodney Scott. “Our vigilance makes this country safer, one encounter at a time.”
All individuals encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks utilizing multiple databases including the use of biometrics to ensure those with criminal history are positively identified regardless of their immigration status.
