Agents Rescue Another 7 Illegal Aliens in Distress in Less Than 24 Hours During Two Separate Events

OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Centro Sector rescued seven illegal aliens in distress in the Jacumba Wilderness region in two separate events.

The first incident occurred Thursday at approximately 3:30 p.m., when El Centro Station was contact by the El Centro Sector’s Foreign Communications Branch (FOB).  They stated that they had received a call from the Centro de Control, Comando, Comunicación, y Cómputo (C-4) of Mexicali Baja California, with information of a distress call made by a pair of Mexican nationals.  The individuals stated they were lost, out of water and overcome by the heat.  The information along with GPS coordinates was relayed to El Centro Station agents performing their assigned duties in the area and they responded to the location to begin searching for the illegal aliens.  El Centro Station’s Mountain Disrupt Unit (MDU) also responded and began to search for the pair.

At approximately 4:19 p.m., MDU agents located two individuals.  Agents confirmed they were the same individuals who made the distress call.  Agents gave them cold water and electrolytes.  Both individuals were in good health and did not require medical attention.

The two men, both illegal aliens from Mexico, were transported to a rally point for processing where agents conducted a criminal background investigations and further medical screenings.  Both men were expelled to back to their country of origin immediately after they cleared the screening process.

The second incident occurred early Friday at approximately 3:20 a.m., when El Centro Sector Radio Communications (Dispatch) was contact by FOB.  They stated that they had received a call from C-4 with information of a distress call made by a group of five Mexican nationals.  The individuals stated they were lost and had been walking for several days.  The information along with GPS coordinates was relayed to El Centro Station agents performing their assigned duties in the area and they responded to the location to begin searching for the illegal aliens.  MDU also responded and began to search for the five individuals.

At approximately 4:17 a.m., MDU agents located a group of five individuals.  Agents confirmed they were the same individuals who made the distress call.  Agents gave them cold water to drink.  All five individuals were in good health and did not require medical attention.

The five individuals, all illegal aliens from Mexico, were transported to a rally point for processing where agents conducted a criminal background investigation and further medical screening.  The group was expelled back to their country of origin immediately after they cleared the screening process.

This week agents from El Centro Sector rescued a man suffering from heat stroke, a group lost in the desert, a man from drowning and a man with a broken ankle.
