On Wednesday, April 15, shortly after 10:30 p.m., a 43-year-old male CBP officer was detained by Laredo Police Department in connection with the shooting death of a man, later identified as a Laredo firefighter, in an off-duty domestic incident. A murder charge has been filed with Webb County District Attorney’s Office in this case. The incident remains under investigation by Laredo Police Department and U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility.  CBP cooperates fully with all criminal or administrative investigations of alleged conduct by any of our personnel, whether it occurs on or off duty. Any further inquiry regarding the case should be directed to Laredo Police Department or Webb County District Attorney’s Office.

The employee has 12 years of service with CBP and is currently in a non-duty status.
