YUMA, Ariz. – On Monday evening, Border Patrol agents working the I-8 Immigration Checkpoint encountered three subjects attempting to transport methamphetamine while in possession of multiple handguns.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday evening, agents encountered a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban with three individuals. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle, and it was sent to secondary inspection. A subsequent search revealed a backpack with 918 grams of methamphetamine valued at approximately $4,600. Agents retrieved a loaded .380 caliber handgun from the pocket of the front seat passenger, and retrieved a 9mm handgun from the vehicle’s glove compartment.
The driver was an 18-year-old female US Citizen, the front seat passenger was a 57-year-old male US Citizen, and the additional passenger was a 60-year-old male US Citizen. They were charged with possession of a controlled substance; the narcotics and firearms were seized.
