YUMA, Ariz. — Yuma Sector Border Patrol Agents seized 189.5 pounds of marijuana, nearly 25 pounds of heroin and almost 30 pounds of methamphetamine during separate incidents Wednesday.
Agents responded to a group of individuals walking north toward Intestate 8 and arrested two individuals hiding under a tree next to four backpacks of marijuana. A third man, whose footprints matched those found around the bundles, was located and arrested shortly after. All three men admitted to entering the U.S. illegally and were turned over to the Maricopa County Sherriff’s Office, along with the marijuana worth an estimated $94,750.
Blythe Station agents stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 near the California-Arizona state line and obtained permission from the driver to search the vehicle. During the search, agents found 27 cellophane-wrapped packages hidden within the vehicle’s rear seats. Eleven of the packages contained $348,440 worth of heroin 16 contained methamphetamine valued at approximately $89,400. The drugs and driver were taken to Blythe Station for processing.
