YUMA, Ariz. –Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents working at the I-95 Immigration Checkpoint near Quartzsite encountered a vehicle with two subjects, both with extensive criminal histories, attempting to transport cocaine on Saturday, May 9, 2020.
On Saturday afternoon, agents responded to a Border Patrol canine alert on a 2005 Jeep SUV and sent the vehicle for a secondary inspection. Agents discovered both occupants were body carriers concealing packages of cocaine under their clothing as well as in a purse. The total weight of the packages was approximately 319 grams with an estimated street value of $8,900.
The driver was a 48-year-old female U.S. citizen with an extensive criminal history for controlled substances. The passenger was a 39-year-old female U.S. citizen with an extensive criminal history for controlled substances and check fraud. Both subjects were arrested on controlled substance charges, and the vehicle and drugs were seized.
