Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station seizes 325 pounds of marijuana

La Rosita, Texas - Agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station seized 325 pounds of marijuana worth $260,800 and a Mazda 6 on Dec. 5. Border Patrol agents were scanning an area that has a notorious history for alien and narcotics smuggling and has been the site of numerous seizures in the past. Agents observed several subjects emerging from a brushy area and noticed they were carrying several large bundles of marijuana.  Agents were able to interdict before the subjects were able to load the bundles into a vehicle. The subjects dropped the bundles and began to abscond south towards Mexico.  One subject was apprehended attempting to flee.  The subject was placed under arrest and advised of his Miranda Rights in the Spanish Language by Agents.  Agents located the bundles next to the vehicle, which was left running with the doors open.  A total of seven bundles were seized and transported to the Rio Grande City Station for processing.
