EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested a man with an outstanding murder warrant in Mexico and two sex offenders over the weekend. All were attempting to illegally enter the United States.

Agents assigned to the Weslaco, Texas Border Patrol Station apprehended an adult male Mexican national. During processing, record checks revealed that the subject has an outstanding felony warrant for homicide in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. The Government of Mexico has confirmed the warrant and will take custody of the individual.

The sex offenders, who are both Mexican nationals, were arrested by agents assigned to the McAllen and Falfurrias stations. The agents later discovered that both men had previous convictions for sexual offenses, including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, and rape and forcible compulsion.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. To report suspicious activity, call the sector’s toll-free telephone number at 800-863-9382.
