Miami/Tampa Field Office Announces FY20 Enforcement

MIAMI— U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) Miami/Tampa Field Office have announced enforcement results for Fiscal Year 2020. The federal fiscal year started Oct. 1, 2019 and ended Sep. 30, 2020.

CBP officers seized more than 2695 pounds of cocaine, 149 pounds of ecstasy, 92 pounds of methamphetamine and 1234 pounds of marijuana during the fiscal year.CBP Office of Field Operations in Florida released FY20 enforcement results.

CBP officers made 723 arrests; among these were individuals who had outstanding warrants for their arrests. There have been 316 firearms seized by CBP.

A total of $2,559,482 in undeclared currency was seized while conducting inbound and outbound inspections.

“Enforcement is a direct result of the vigilance, integrity and professionalism of CBP’s frontline personnel across Florida," said CBP Miami/Tampa Field Office Acting Director of Field Operations Daniel Alonso. “We will continue to steadfastly enforce the laws of the United States while facilitating lawful international trade and travel.”

CBP Office of Field Operations in Florida includes travel and trade facilitation while securing over 1,200 miles of the coastal border with more than 2,700 front-line federal officers, agricultural specialists, trade and mission support personnel. The Miami Field Office encompasses five ports that stretch over 313 miles of Florida coastline, within which there are five seaports, including the top two cruise ship ports in the world; and nine airports, with Miami International Airport (MIA) ranking as one of the busiest international airport among U.S. airports.

The Tampa Field Office encompasses the Area Ports of Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. Both Field Offices also provide support to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Associate Chief Counsel, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the South Florida Federal Executive Board, and numerous other governmental agencies.

CBP conducts operations at ports of entry throughout the United States, and regularly screens arriving international passengers and cargo for narcotics, weapons, and other restricted or prohibited products.
