Laredo Sector Border Patrol Deters Narcotics Smuggling Attempt

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo South Station deterred several bundles of narcotics from being smuggled into the country in El Cenizo, Texas.

The incident occurred during the late evening of June 17,  while agents were working their assigned duties, encountered several individuals attempting to load bundles into a grey vehicle near the Rio Grande River in El Cenizo.  As agents approached, the vehicle fled the area and the individuals abandoned the bundles and turned back to Mexico.  Agents seized four bundles of marijuana.  The bundles weighed approximately 290 pounds with an estimated street value of $232,000.
