LAREDO, Texas – Due to their training and quick response, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Zapata Station came to the aid of a motorist, and rescued him from his vehicle as it drifted, partially submerged, in high waters in Zapata, Texas.
In the early morning hours of May 26, agents experienced inclement weather including heavy rain and tornado-like high winds causing downed power lines. As they monitored the area for potential hazards, the agents discovered a vehicle drifting, partially submerged, in high waters on Bravo Street between Fourth and Seventh Streets. An individual was in the vehicle asking for help. After assessing the situation, the agents proceeded to rescue the individual by helping him get out of the vehicle and guiding him to safety. He was evaluated for injuries, but did not need any medical treatment.
