LAREDO, TEXAS – ;Chief Patrol Agent of the Laredo Sector Border Patrol retires effective today. Chief Chavez approached mandatory retirement with the federal government and he would like to extend a handshake to the entire community of Laredo and surrounding areas and say, A BIG THANK YOU.
“Thank you to the community of Laredo, which has been my home since being assigned here initially in September of 2018.” Chief Chavez entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol in July 1985, as a member of Academy Class 184. With over 34 years of federal service and an illustrious career, Chief Chavez’s career included working at the Sierra Blanca Station, Ramey Station, Tucson Station, Alamogordo Station, El Paso Sector Headquarters, Washington, DC, Tucson Sector, Del Rio Sector and Laredo Sector. Of them all, he can rightly say that he will miss the Laredo Sector the most.
Chief Chavez’s priority was to work with local, state, and federal partners, to include all of the stakeholders in our area, to make sure they understood and knew what the Laredo Sector Border Patrol was doing in terms of border security. Chief Chavez humbly thanks everyone who welcomed him and was thankful to work alongside some of the finest law enforcement professionals in this nation that represent Laredo. “I have no doubt you will super exceed anything that we face in this current crisis,” said Chief Chavez.
Chief Chavez continued, “Every agent has a season and my season has approached, I can honestly say that if I could do one more day beyond mandatory, representing this great Nation in this uniform, I would not hesitate to continue to serve alongside some of the finest men and women in law enforcement. After almost 35 years, my last day with the Border Patrol will be June 30, 2020. As I start this next chapter as a private citizen, please know that I will never stop supporting the men and women of the United States Border Patrol, this nation and the great city of Laredo.”
