CALEXICO, Calif. –Today, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehend a dangerous gang member from the “Sureno” criminal street gang. This makes a total of 23 gang members arrested this year. The man was illegally present in the United States at the time of his arrest.
At approximately 7 a.m., Border Patrol agents from the Calexico station apprehended 23-year-old Octavio Gonzalez-Ramiez who illegally entered into the U.S. approximately seven miles east of Calexico West Port of Entry.
During a interview Gonzalez admitted to being a member of the “Sureno” criminal street gang based out of Santa Maria. Gonzalez also admitted to stabbing two “Norteno” gang members six years ago. Record checks revealed Gonzalez has an extensive criminal history and was removed from the U.S. in 2010.
Gonzalez is in Border Patrol custody and will be criminally prosecuted for illegal re-entry into the United States after being ordered removed.
