DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station apprehended a convicted sex offender on June 30.

Agents patrolling near the Eagle Pass Port of Entry encountered Oscar Martinez-Rodrigues, 41, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras. During processing, agents discovered that Martinez-Rodrigues was deported from the United States in 2009 and was a convicted sex offender. Criminal records checks revealed Martinez-Rodrigues had a 2004 conviction out of Carver County, Minnesota for Criminal Sex Conduct – Nonconsensual Sexual Contact.

Martinez-Rodrigues faces a charge of illegal entry - 8 USC 1326 - and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.

For Fiscal Year 2014, which started on Oct. 1, 2013, Del Rio Sector agents have apprehended a total of 24 convicted sex offenders. The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
