STERLING, Va. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO), at Washington Dulles International Airport arrested a Virginia man Monday who was wanted by the Fairfax County, Va., Police Department for alleged child abduction.
Cristiann Antonio Bonilla, 39, of Dunn Loring, Va., arrived on a flight from El Salvador. CBP officers determined Bonilla to be the subject to an arrest warrant issued by the Fairfax County Police Department on charges of violating a court order, violating visitation, and taking a child from Virginia. CBP officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed extradition. CBP officers arrested Bonilla and turned him over to Fairfax County police officers.
“The United States is a welcoming nation; however, CBP remains ever vigilant in intercepting those travelers that our laws identify as needing further scrutiny,” said Wayne Biondi CBP Area Port Director for the Port of Washington Dulles.
CBP conducts inspection operations and intercepts currency, weapons, prohibited agriculture products and other illicit items, and on average arrests 21 wanted persons a day at U.S. Ports of entry nationwide.
Travelers are encouraged to visit CBP’s Travel website to learn rules governing travel to and from the U.S.
