Driver Flees from Wellton Agents, Abandons Vehicle, Marijuana

WELLTON, Ariz. – Yuma Sector agents seized 172.2 pounds of marijuana Aug. 25 in the Dome Valley area.  

The incident began when agents encountered an older SUV at approximately 6 p.m., on County 10 St. and Ave 20E. The driver stopped his vehicle, then ran into a nearby riverbed and fled the scene. 

Agents searched the vehicle and discovered 11 bundles of marijuana, valued at more than $86,000, in the vehicle’s cargo compartment.

The drugs will be processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
