CBP officers at the Port of Douglas seized nearly 151 pounds of marijuana from within a smuggling vehicle

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the Port of Douglas arrested Carlota Margaret Bene, 18, of Mesa after discovering nearly 151 pounds of marijuana throughout her Dodge SUV on May 1.

Officers seized the marijuana, worth more than $75,000, and vehicle. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations took custody of the subject.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
