TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the Port of Douglas arrested a Douglas, Arizona man Dec. 11, following an unsuccessful attempt to smuggle nearly 37 pounds of methamphetamine into the United States.
Officers arrested Jesus Abril, 41, of Douglas, after finding 20 packages concealed within a non-factory compartment inside the muffler of his Dodge truck as he attempted to cross into the United States.
Officers seized the vehicle and drugs, and referred Abril to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
