DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs Station apprehended a subject with an active warrant for rape on Friday.

During processing, agents discovered that Martinez-Zarate had been previously deported from the United States and is currently wanted for a rape charge in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Martinez-Zarate will be charged with 8 USC 1326 – re-entry after deportation – and his prior order of removal will be reinstated. He will be removed to his native country upon completion of all criminal proceedings.

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. Del Rio Sector agents have apprehended 18 sex offenders since the beginning of Fiscal Year 14 which commenced on Oct. 1 2013.
