CBP Recruiting Event in Spokane, Washington

SPOKANE, Wash. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recruiters will be at the Spokane WorkSource, at 130 S. Arthur St., Spokane, WA, on Wednesday and Thursday, June 10 and 11. CBP recruiters will be on hand to answer questions about careers with CBP from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“CBP is seeking exceptional candidates to join its ranks as the largest law enforcement agency in the country,” said Director of Field Operations Michele James. “Discover the personal satisfaction of service to our nation while mapping a rewarding and challenging career. The primary responsibility of CBP officers and administrative staff is to protect the Nation by detecting and preventing terrorists and their weapons from entering the U.S. while facilitating the orderly flow of legitimate trade and travel. CBP employees perform a wide variety of duties at the 328 ports of entry located at airports, sea ports and land borders.  These duties include, but are not limited to: conveyance and traveler inspection, passenger and cargo analysis, examination, and law enforcement activities relating to revenue and trade, seizure of contraband, interdiction of agricultural pests and diseases, and admissibility of persons.

The CBP officer position is a full-time, uniformed position that requires regular qualification and carrying of a firearm and includes paid training at the CBP Field Operations Academy in Brunswick, GA. Administrative positions are full-time and may require paid training at a CBP facility. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and resident for the last three years, have a valid driver’s license, and pass a medical examination, fitness tests, and a drug test. A thorough background investigation and polygraph examination are also used to determine suitability for the position. Eligible candidates for the CBP officer position must be referred for selection prior to reaching their 37th birthday.
