“CBP Officers at the Port of El Paso remain vigilant and focused on all threats in an effort to protect our country and community,” said El Paso Port Director Beverly Good, “Officer experience played a vital role in stopping this attempt to smuggle a large amount of anabolic steroids.”

The seizure was made shortly after 9 a.m. when a 29-year-old United States citizen male arrived from Mexico driving a 2010 Ford F-150. The primary CBP Officer selected the vehicle for a secondary inspection. During the secondary inspection, CBP Officers discovered pill-filled bottles in the subject’s waistband. The subject initially stated that the pills were vitamins. Inspection of the subject’s vehicle led to the discovery of a compartment where more anabolic steroids were discovered. CBP Officers removed 2,256 pills and 290ml of anabolic steroids from the vehicle and the subject.

CBP Officers took the man into custody. He is facing charges in the failed smuggling attempt.
